Paper Sizes

In the UK we predominantly use ISO A and SRA paper sizes in commercial printing althogh custom sizes can be produced from reels of paper.

The A series consists of a logical set of paper sizes that are defined by the ISO 216 standard. The largest size (A0) measures one square meter. The height/width ratio remains constant (1:1.41) for all sizes. This means you get the A1 size by cutting an A0 sheet of paper in two along its shortest side.

If you cut the A1 size sheet in two you get an A2 size paper, and so on and so on down to the smallest standard size - A7.

A-sizes are used to define the finished paper size in printing such as A4 which is used for standard letterhead.

The SRA series is an oversized version of the A series which allows printers to print to your artwork with bleed. This ensures a nice edge-to-edge finish when trimmed to finished size.
